Canada’s National Ballet School’s First Position Steering Committee together with artScene Toronto present “Breaking Down Boundaries” a panel discussion on the collaboration between art and health care, education and technology.
This moderated event will feature panelists John Baker, founder of the eLearning Management Systems, Desire2Learn. John is an active member of the NBS volunteer community and sits on both the Board of Directors and the School’s Gala Fundraising Committee. Panelist Rachel Bar is NBS’ Manager, Health and Research Initiatives. She is a former professional ballet dancer and an alumni of NBS Professional Ballet Program. She has BA(Hons) and MA in psychology and is currently a Vanier Scholar, completing her PhD in psychology at Ryerson University. Rachel’s research focuses on the physical and psycho-social benefits of dance for older adults and on the role of arts-based knowledge translation of health research.
If you’re interested in what happens beyond the stage, we welcome you and a guest to join us on April 12th for a free panel discussion and tour of Canada’s National Ballet School. What would an event at the world’s foremost training institution for aspiring young dancers and teachers be without a little movement? The event will wrap up with a 10-minute in-studio demo of the NBS Sharing Dance 2018 choreography.
