cities through live matching events. Each year, the artsScene chapters host a boardLink event in their local communities.
Structured like a speed-dating event, boardLink rotates young professionals and arts organizations and gives them an opportunity
to get to know a bit about each other. The arts organizations have the opportunity to talk about their missions and programs,
the roles available on their boards, and the young professionals can let them know why they are interested in volunteering in their
arts sector and what they hope to bring to the table as a board member.
why is boardLink needed?
The arts sector in Canada is facing a future deficit of qualified and engaged individuals to succeed existing board members.
Young professionals find it challenging to find their first board service opportunities due to lack of contacts and invitation.
A lack of board succession planning which is causing a reduction in quality boards. This translates to a loss in corporate investment as funding is not being strategically applied.
boardLink launched in 2006, is an innovative national matching program connecting professionals with the arts across Canada working to fill this gap. We connect leaders working in the private sector, with meaningful and fulfilling volunteer opportunities in the arts sector.
